There's more than a lot of great beer at the 30-or-so craft breweries located in and
around Charlotte. According to Nils Weldy, who founded the Queen City Brewers Festival in 2006,
you'll find a creative community of artisans crafting flavor-packed ciders and saisons, one-of-a-kind ales
and historic brews based on traditional recipes. They love visitors, too. "Most tasting rooms have great
food from local food trucks and lots of alcohol-free choices; some have play areas for kids," notes Weldy.
"It's an awesome, family-friendly brew scene that's really become part of Charlotte's identity." Here's a
sampling of what's on tap in the booming brew scene in the Queen City.
