44 charlottesgotalot.com Charlotte's live music options run from punk rock and country to jazz and classical. There's something here to match every mood. Next to The Fillmore Charlotte at AvidXchange Music Factory, The Underground is the place in Charlotte for hot local and national acts, where small (750 is maximum capacity) crowds get up close with bands like Band of Horses, Wheeler Walker Jr. and Reel Big Fish. Pick up a microphone and sing karaoke or test your trivia knowledge at The Gin Mill, a neighborhood bar located less than a mile from the center of the city. Catch some live music at The Rabbit Hole in Plaza Midwood or throw an unforgettable party at Howl at the Moon Uptown, where dueling pianos and dance parties keep every night exciting. Don't miss larger concerts and events at Ovens Auditorium, Bojangles' Coliseum and Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre. Head to NoDa to the iconic Neighborhood Theatre, a restored gem from 1945 that boasts the best acoustics in town. Top acts are always on hand here, where the playbill has included legends like Leon Russell, The Wailin' Jennys, the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Doc Watson. Both locations of the Mint Museum are free every Wednesday evening to the general public, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Levine Museum of the New South offers free admission on the first Sunday of each month. On the third Friday of every month, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art offers free admission through its Bechtler By Night series, from 5 to 9 p.m. Admission is always free at Uptown's Wells Fargo History Museum , where visitors learn about the North Carolina gold rush and the origins of Wachovia Bank. Discounted last-minute tickets are available for select performances on a first-come, first-served basis beginning two hours prior to curtain at Blumenthal Performing Arts venues.
