Many guests come to town with a ticket to the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Here, Charlotte Symphony, Opera Carolina, Charlotte Ballet and top traveling acts take to the stages of the Belk, Knight and McGlohon theaters. Considered the "Broadway of Christian entertainment," NarroWay Productions' dinner shows feature family-friendly productions, while the playful Children's eatre of Charlotte produces imaginative programs all ages enjoy. For more mature audiences, Actor's eatre of Charlotte is a decorated professional theater known for its more daring, contemporary programming. And eatre Charlotte is the area's award-winning nonprofi t local theater, with shows such as Rupert Holmes' play adaptation of John Grisham's novel "A Time to Kill" on deck for 2018. A who's who of music and comedy are booked at Ovens Auditorium, Bojangles' Coliseum and Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre. At the AvidXchange Music Factory, e Fillmore Charlotte was inspired by the legendary San Francisco hall, while settings like e Underground bring intimate shows to small crowds. Visulite eatre is a cozy concert spot with a full bar in Elizabeth, and in Plaza Midwood, e Rabbit Hole promises there's not a bad view in the house. e Evening Muse in NoDa books independent acts and hosts popular open-mic nights. Down the street, Neighborhood eatre has a 70-plus-year history in Charlotte and is known for its awesome acoustics. Or opt for the great outdoors: Twice a week from May through September, the free River Jam rocks the U.S. National Whitewater Center, and during warmer months, breweries all around town host patio performers.
